Farmers Market Information for September 11 and 18

Can you believe it is September and the kids are back in school. The weather this weekend should be cooler. Saturday's high should be around 80 degrees... so stop by the Market and see the vendors and their offerings.

On Saturday, September 11 from 8:00-12:00, the fresh baked bread will be back; the bakers were on vacation last week. Scones will also be available! Also, there will be two new vendors. One will bring fresh eggs and the other is an artist. Come and meet them and see what they have to offer. One of the regular vendors, who is also an artist, will demonstrate her tole painting on September 11 from 9:00 to 10:00. Tole painting is the folk art of decorative painting on tin and wooden utensils, objects and furniture. Typical metal objects include utensils, coffee pots, and similar household items. Wooden objects include tables, chairs, and chests including hope chests, toy boxes and jewelry boxes. The practice began in 18th century New England, and was also extensively carried on among German immigrants in Pennsylvania. A separate, related tradition occurs among Scandinavian countries and immigrants, including Norwegians, Danes and Swedes. German tole painting may concentrate more on metal and tin objects, while Scandinavian may concentrate more on wooden objects and furniture. Patterns in the two traditions vary slightly as well.

Also on September 11, we will have a Yoga demonstration at the Market between 10:00-11:00. If you would like to learn more about yoga please stop by. Extra yoga mats for anyone who would like to give it a try will be available.

On September 18 from 9:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. the Market will move to Milford to support Milford Day. Milford Day will be held on the corner of Blatt and Church Street at Milford Presbyterian Church. There will be a huge yard sale, a bake sale, activities for children including a moon bounce and face painting, live music by a number of local groups and food including Bill Green's famous chicken dinners. Hope to see you there.

Town Information and Events Are Now on the Back of Your New Bi-Monthly Utility Bill

Important information and upcoming events are printed on the back side of the new bi-monthly utility bill format.  This addition to your utility bill provides one more way the Town conveys information to its residents.  The cost to print and mail a Town Newsletter four times a year became too expensive and was not very timely.  By using the blank back side of your new utility bill, the Town is able to provide important information to its residents six times a year and at a lower cost.  For those non-residents who want the same information, the document can be found attached at the bottom of this page.
