The Board of Zoning Appeals is a 5-member body recommended by the Town Council and appointed by the Circuit Court for staggered terms of five years. The Board of Zoning Appeals is responsible for reviewing applications for Special Exceptions or Variances to the Zoning Ordinance and hearing appeals of orders or decisions made by the Zoning Administrator. The Board of Zoning Appeals is a quasi-judicial agency and its meetings and hearings are conducted in a very formal manner. An appeal from a decision of the BZA goes directly to the Circuit Court and not to any other Town body. All members of the Board of Zoning Appeals are private citizens and must be residents of the Town of Bowling Green.
Becoming a Member:
If you are interested in serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals, you can express your desire in writing to the Town Manager.
