NOTICE: Delinquent Tax Notices Sent in Error

Dear Customer: 

It has been brought to our attention that several delinquent tax notices were sent to customers in error, affecting customers who had paid their real estate tax bills on time. 

Currently, the Town of Bowling is using a legacy financial system for tax records. It appears there was a system error in record reporting functions that led to the production of some delinquent real estate tax notices being sent to taxpayers who had paid in full. Over the summer, this system crashed, and while we were able to recover the system, challenges remain. 

Town Staff are actively working with our vendors to rectify this issue and follow up with affected customers as quickly as possible. 

In August of 2024, at the request of the Town Treasurer and Town Manager, the Town Council approved the purchase of a new financial management system to improve the reliability of our financial systems and avoid the consistent payment issues that have occurred over the last few years. Town staff will be trained on the new system this month and it will be available for the April utility billing cycle for customer use.
